Purple Dulse Flakes 0.9oz Burlap and Barrel
Our Purple Dulse is a savory, umami, colorful seaweed that is sustainably hand-harvested from the pristine waters in the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada. It's perfect for soups, stews, stir-fries, sauces, salads, and any other dish that needs an extra oomph.
Use in cooking and garnishing for an irresistible nutty flavor or as an alternative to salt. It also makes a great accompaniment to starches and sharp cheeses. This dulse is solar-dried to preserve its nutrients, which include protein, dietary fiber, vitamin A (beta-carotene), iron, potassium, magnesium, chlorophyll, trace ocean minerals and B vitamins. It's also an excellent source of iodine!
Cooking Tips: Make a tahini dressing with dulse, garlic powder and lemon juice. Sprinkle over roasted vegetables. Use to top avocado or tomato toast. Add to your smoothies. Bake into a banana bread. Use as a salt substitute

Burlap & Barrel is a Public Benefit Corporation building new international spice supply chains that are equitable, transparent and traceable. We’re working to build an equitable food system—one that values skilled farmers and ends exploitation. We source our spices directly from small farms and cooperatives, building long-term relationships that improve quality and increase farmers’ earnings. By skipping brokers, we keep the supply chain short and transparent.
Most conversations about food sustainability focus on the environment or animal welfare—but often overlook the people behind our food. We believe true sustainability must also account for the livelihoods of the farmers who power global food systems. By sourcing single origin ingredients, we highlight the unique places they come from—and the skilled farmers who grow them with care and intention.
